Lisandro Martinez was born on January 18, 1998, in Gualeguay, Entre Ríos, Argentina. He is currently 26 years old. He started his football career at Newell’s Old Boys before joining Defensa y Justicia in 2017, initially on loan. In 2019, he joined Ajax, where he made 120 appearances over three seasons and won two Eredivisie titles and one KNVB Cup. Early Life:
Lisandro Martinez was born into a football-loving family, he wanted to become a footballer since his childhood for becoming a footballer his family supported him and he joined the youth academy of Club Urquiza, a football club based in Buenos Aires, where he honed his skills as a defender and now is one of the best defenders in the world.
Club Career:
He started his club career with the Club Urquiza and made his professional debut for Newell’s in the club’s final fixture of the 2016-17 season, playing the full match in a loss to Godoy Cruz. He also played for Argentina’s Primera Division side Defensa y Justicia after joining them in August 2017 on loan.
On 17 May 2019, Defensa y Justicia announced that we have agreed to a deal with Eredivisie team Ajax, subject to the passing of a medical examination. For that, Ajax paid the Argentine side €7m for the transfer of Martinez. Lisandro Martinez scored his first goal for Ajax on 08 September, as he opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory over Groningen at the Johan Cruyff Arena. He scored more goals for Ajax in further matches.
On 16 July 2022, Manchester United announced that they had agreed a deal with Ajax for the signing of Martinez for a reported transfer fee between £47 million to £49 million, plus £8.5 million in add-ons. On 27 July this transfer was officially completed when Lisandro Martinez signed a five-year contract with the club. On 7 August his debut was seen for the club in a 2-1 home loss against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League. On 22 January 2023, he scored his first goal for Manchester United in a 3-2 loss against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Later on 13 April 2023, he suffered a right foot injury while playing in the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinal against Sevilla. He bore that foot injury as a nightmare but was reinjured on 29 September 2023. He then returned on 14 January as a substitute in Manchester United’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham.
