Club Career of Edgar Davids:
Ajax
Edgar Davids began his football career with Ajax at 12 before the club rejected him twice. His debut for Ajax came on 06 September 1991 in a 5-1 home win over RKC Waalwijk. He showed an excellent performance, which helped the Amsterdam club to three domestic Eredivisie titles and continental success with the 1992 UEFA Cup and the 1995 UEFA Champions League. The Ajax manager also named him “The Pitbull” because of his excellent performances.
AC Milan and Juventus:
In the 1996-97 season, Edgar Davids moved to Italy to play for AC Milan on a transfer fee alongside team-mate Michael Reiziger, both early beneficiaries of the “Bosman ruling.” Davids could not show an excellent performance for the club. Because of this, he could not recover his place in the team and was allowed to join league rivals Juventus in December 1997 for a reduced 9 billion Italian lire (£3 million) transfer fee. He played for Juventus as a defensive midfielder and became a permanent first-team member. He showed outstanding performance for Juventus, and because of this, he was considered by pundits to be one of the best January transfers.
Loan to Barcelona:
During the first half of the 2003-04 season, he was seen joining Barcelona on loan in January 2004. It was the middle of the season when he joined; at that time, the club struggled in the mid-table, and recently appointed manager Frank Rijkaard was under considerable pressure. He was in great form while playing for the club and performed well. In the presence of Davids in the club, the club won La Liga the following season.
Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur:
In the summer of 2024, Davids signed a three-year contract with Italian club Inter Milan. In 2005, Inter Milan terminated the remaining years of his contract, so he moved to England on a free transfer to join Tottenham Hotspur. His career at Tottenham Hotspur became impressive, and fans loved him. He scored his first and only goal in a 2-1 away win against Wigan Athletic.
Return to Ajax:
On 28 January 2007, he was again seen signing for Ajax and played his first match on 04 February against club rivals Feyenoord. At half of the season, he proved his value to the team again and became one of the best midfielders on the team. Under his presence, the team played in the final of the Dutch Championship, losing by a single goal to PSV in the league. He has helped his team to secure different wins. He helped his team to win the KNVB Cup by scoring the final penalty shoot-out against AZ.
Crystal Palace:
