In 2009, he joined Paris FC. By 2016, he was being scouted by several English clubs, including Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, and he even had a trial with Arsenal. He studied at the prestigious INF Clairefontaine Academy. His elder brother, Abderrahmen Mejbri, is a sporting coach working for the Vietnam national football team and Pho Hien FC, a Vietnamese youth development club.
Club Career:
Hannibal Mejbri began his football career with a short spell at Boulogne-Billancourt. In 2018, he joined Monaco for a fee of €1 million, where he impressed the youth development team with his performances. From the start of his career, Mejbri has consistently performed well for various teams.
Manchester United:
On August 11, 2019, Premier League side Manchester United announced they had agreed with Monaco to sign Hannibal Mejbri. The youngster, who had previously rejected moves to other English clubs, was signed for a fee believed to be around €5 million, potentially rising to €10 million with add-ons. Due to his incredible talent, he was selected for the Under-23 squad while still being just 17. On September 9, 2020, he debuted for Manchester United’s Under-21 side against Salford City in the 2020-21 EFL Trophy. In March 2021, he signed a new contract with Manchester United. His outstanding performance earned him the Denzil Haroun Reserve Player of the Year award on May 20, 2021. Three days later, he made his senior debut in a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the final game of the Premier League season.
Loan To Birmingham City:
On August 29, 2022, Birmingham City signed Hannibal Mejbri on loan for the 2022-23 season. He scored his first senior goal for the team on February 10, 2023, with a surprise free kick against West Bromwich Albion.
Return To Manchester United:
After the season with Birmingham City, Hannibal Mejbri returned to Manchester United. He scored his first Premier League goal for Manchester United on September 16, 2023, in a 3-1 home defeat against Brighton.
Loan To Sevilla:
On January 15, 2024, Hannibal Mejbri was loaned by Manchester United to La Liga club Sevilla until the end of the season, with an optional buy clause reportedly around €20 million.
